TENTISHEV ASIAN MEDICAL INSTITUTE was established in 2004 and registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic at the address: Kant city 58, Gagarin Street. S.TENTISHEV ASIAN MEDICAL INSTITUTE is listed in World Health Organization Directory (W.H.O), Avicenna Directory, and FAIMER. Such students holding medical qualifications are eligible for the screening tests in any country of the world and subsequent recognition of their degree. Asmi has received a certificate of accreditation from independent agencies such as “EdNet”, “AAOPO”. Institute has applied for international accreditation from IAAR in April 2021.

The higher institution is meant for training qualified specialists in the medical sphere both for the Kyrgyz Republic and other countries of the world including Pakistan, India, Nepal, Nigeria, America, Turkey, Egypt, Somalia, Russia, and CIS countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, etc.). Students are studying from 15 countries.
More than 8 batches have graduated and are currently working in their home countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Tajikistan, Nigeria, Afghanistan, after clearing their respective licensing exams (NEB/NLE, MCI/NEXT, MDCN, USMLE, PLAB, etc.)

There are doctors & candidates of medical science participating in the training process. The combination of utilization of modern training programs, technical material base, new training technologies, and qualified teachers promotes the improvement of training quality. Students will be taught not only on a clinical basis in Kant but also in Bishkek, the capital city. Many republican medical institutions and scientific centers are the clinical bases of the Asian Medical Institute. Institute’s departments will be working out both the fundamental and applied research problems on medicine priority direction.

The History

The Kirghiz State Pedagogical Institute, later known as the Kyrgyz State University, was founded in 1932. It originated from specialized educational institutions established in 1925 to address the need for university teachers in the Kyrgyz Republic. In 1951, the Kyrgyz State University was established in Frunze based on the Kirghiz Pedagogical Institute.

In 1972, it was renamed as the “Kirghiz State University named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR.” In 1993, it was transformed into the Kyrgyz State National University and later, in 2002, it received the status of “National” and was renamed as the Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn.

Milestones

  • Since October 20, 1989 KNU has been a member of Eurasian Association of Universities.
  • On September 16, 2011 the Rector of KNU signed the Great Charter of Universities in Bologna
  • On June 30, 2012 KNU became a member of the Association of Asian Universities.
  • Since November 8, 2013 KNU has been a member of the International Consortium of Rectors and Presidents of Universities and Higher Education Institutions on the basis of the International Network of Universities and Higher Education Institutions.
  • Since November 22, 2013 KNU named after. J. Balasagyna is a member of the Association of Universities of Turkic Speaking Countries.
  • In 2014, KNU joined the Association of Higher Educational Institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic
  • In 2019 signing of a bilateral agreement between KNU and LNCT Group/LN Medical College Bhopal for the medical faculty, which includes an exchange programme for Indian and Kyrgyz students.
  • In 2023 The President of the Kyrgyz Republic granted special status for Kyrgyz National University

International Joint Projects

The university has signed agreements with various international projects and organizations, such as ISTC, INTAS, IREKS, and TEMPUS, to promote educational and scientific cooperation These agreements facilitate collaboration with over 50 renowned foreign universities, centers, and international programs in Europe, the United States, and Canada.

Additionally, the university actively participates in university associations of developed countries, including Eurasian and Lingua-UNI. It is also a member of the Consortium of CIS universities network, the Eurasian Association of Universities, and the Universities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. As a result, graduates of KNU have the opportunity to pursue studies abroad through the mentioned projects and initiatives.
